NHL Game Summary - Phoenix at San Jose

San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - Mike Comrie and Geoff Sanderson both scored in the shootout as the Phoenix Coyotes defeated the San Jose Sharks, 4-3, at HP Pavilion.
Comrie also scored in regulation and both Landislav Nagy and newly acquired Dave Scatchard scored for the Coyotes, who have won two of three. Scatchard was acquired from the Boston Bruins on Friday in exchange for defenseman David Tanabe and scored in his first game as a Coyote.
Curtis Joseph made 40 saves in the win.
Patrick Marleau, Wayne Primeau and Tom Preissing all scored and helped San Jose rally from two goals down to force overtime, but the Sharks still lost their fifth straight game. Evgeni Nabokov stopped 18-of-21 shots faced in the loss.
Up 3-1, Phoenix would allow two third-period goals to San Jose, leading to the extra session.
Primeau's power-play goal 4:40 into the third cut it to 3-2. Primeau controlled the puck at the right point and he ripped a shot past Joseph and into the net. Preissing then tied it at 3-3 at the 8:13 mark with his third goal of the year.
Derek Morris would take a holding penalty at the 3:35 mark of overtime, but Phoenix successfully killed the power play to force the shootout.
Niko Dimitrakos scored for San Jose during the first round of shooters and Comrie evened it up when his stick-side shot beat Nabokov. The next three shooters were all denied by the opposing netminders, forcing a fourth shooter for each team.
Sanderson went for Phoenix and he tucked the puck around Nabokov's right side and Joseph then stopped Nils Ekman for the win.
Comrie staked Phoenix to a 1-0 lead with his seventh tally of the year 3:11 into the opening period and Nagy's rebound goal increased it to a two- goal advantage 54 seconds later.
The Sharks would crack the scoreboard after Marleau's rebound goal from the slot came on the power-play at the 3:38 mark of the second stanza. It was his eighth goal of the season.
Scatchard netted a power-play tally at the 6:43 mark, pushing Phoenix to a 3-1 lead.
Morris picked up his eighth assist of the year on Comrie's goal...Dimitrakos registered his sixth helper on Preissing's tally...San Jose outshot Phoenix 43-21...Phoenix managed only three shots in the third period and none in overtime...The Sharks scored twice on 10 power plays. The Coyotes connected once in four chances.
