The shootout saw only one goal and some big saves as Dallas clinched the victory.
First, Zubov used a forehand-to-backhand move to beat Taylor, but his shot hit off both the right post and crossbar. Then, after Turco stopped Patrice Bergeron, Jokinen made a move to the left side of the net before stretching out back in front of the net with a backhand goal.
Marco Sturm then hit the left post for Boston but Mike Modano failed to clinch the victory after Thomas extended his right pad to stone the star center. However, Sergei Samsonov was stopped by Turco on the final shot.
Boston had a great scoring chance in overtime but Turco came up big. After a turnover in the neutral zone, P.J. Axelsson sent a pass ahead to Samsonov. The forward skated in on a breakaway, fought through a slash from behind, and went to his backhand but Turco slid over and made a pad save.
The Bruins took a 1-0 lead in the second period. After a Marty Turco save, Dallas attempted to move the puck out of its zone. However, Jurcina stopped the puck at the right point and he fired a shot that changed directions and beat Turco at the 6:05 mark.
Zubov finally netted the equalizer for Dallas with his sixth goal of the year at the 8:42 mark of the third after he converted a Modano assist to eventually force an overtime.
