East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - Martin Brodeur made 26 saves for his second consecutive shutout and Brian Gionta scored twice as the New Jersey Devils defeated the Vancouver Canucks, 3-0, at Continental Airlines Arena.

Viktor Kozlov added a power-play tally and Brian Rafalski had two assists for the Devils, who have won a season-best five straight games. Brodeur notched the third shutout of the season and the 78th of his career.

Alexander Auld stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced for the Canucks, who saw a three-game winning streak snapped.

After neither team scored in the opening two stanzas, New Jersey drew first blood while on the power play 2:31 into the third period. Kozlov beat Auld stick-side with a wrist shot from the right circle for a 1-0 lead.

The Devils upped their edge to 2-0 at the 6:38 mark of the final frame while again on the man advantage, as Gionta one-timed a shot past Auld's glove from on the doorstep. Scott Gomez held the puck behind the Canucks' net before finding Gionta in front.

Vancouver pulled Auld with over two minutes left in the contest, but it was the Devils that scored. Gionta gathered a loose puck inside the left circle of Vancouver's zone and backhanded a shot into the empty net with 1:53 remaining to seal the win.

Rafalski notched his 200th career assist on his first helper...Gomez extended his point-scoring streak to eight games...The Canucks suffered their first loss against the Eastern Conference this season (5-1)...The Devils snapped a three-game home losing streak to Vancouver...This was also New Jersey's first win over the Canucks in their last five meetings...The Devils' Patrik Elias did not play due to an undisclosed illness...New Jersey improved to 5-0 in 2006....Canucks defenseman Ed Jovanovski (foot) did not play and is listed as day-to-day.
