Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Lubomir Visnovksy had his first career hat trick to help lead the Los Angeles Kings past the Dallas Stars, 6-3, at American Airlines Center.

Martin Skoula had a goal and an assist and Mike Modano and Jussi Jokinen each had goals for the Stars, who have lost three out of their last four.

Johan Hedberg made 20 saves in the defeat.

The Stars drew first blood 3:51 into the first period. Jere Lehtinen flicked the puck out of the Stars zone past both Kings defensemen. Jokinen gathered the puck to go in alone and sent a wrist shot over the right shoulder of LaBarbera for the 1-0 lead.

The Kings made it a 1-1 game at 6:21 of the first period. A miscommunication between Hedberg and Philippe Boucher resulted in a turnover. Alexander Frolov got the puck and made a pass to Sean Avery who one-timed it past Hedberg for his fourth goal of the year.

Los Angeles took the lead into the second period on a goal by Jeff Cowan. After a Stars turnover at center ice, a slap shot from the left point by Mattias Norstrom was deflected by Cowan on the left side of the net past Hedberg to give the Kings a 2-1 lead.

LaBarbera made several big saves to start the second stanza and the Kings increased their lead to 4-1 on a pair of goals by Visnovsky separated by 1:35. Visnovsky's one-timer from the point deflected off a Stars player in front of the net and went over Hedberg's pad for a power-play goal. Demitra hit Visnovsky with a pass on the left side and he sent the shot into an open net one second after a Kings' power play expired.

Modano cut the Kings lead in half on his fifth goal of the season with 33 seconds left in the second session.

Visnovsky finished his hat trick 5:50 into the third period. Jeremy Roenick made a pass from behind the right side of the net and Visnovsky, from between the circles, one-timed it into the left corner of the net to make the score 5-2. Demitra scored his eighth goal of the season just 1:24 later to increase the Kings lead.
