NHL Game Summary - Detroit at Nashville

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Paul Kariya netted a hat trick as the Nashville Predators handed the Detroit Red Wings their first loss in the month of April with a 6-3 win at Gaylord Entertainment Center in the final regular- season test for both clubs.
Martin Erat and David Legwand notched a goal and two assists each and Chris Mason made 30 saves for the Predators, who finished the regular season with six straight wins.
Kris Draper notched a goal and an assist and Chris Osgood stopped 24 shots for the Red Wings, who lost for the first time since an overtime setback to Chicago on March 31. Mikael Samuelsson and Jason Williams added a goal each for Detroit.
Detroit, the Presidents' Trophy winner, will face Edmonton in the first round when the playoffs get underway Friday, while Nashville will meet San Jose the same night.
Detroit drew first blood 13:41 into the first period after Draper beat Mason with a one-timer from the slot for a 1-0 lead.
Nashville, however, scored the next six goals to put the game out of reach.
Kariya got things started while on the power play after he beat Osgood at the 4:29 mark of the second period for his 29th goal of the season. The Predators took their first lead of the game 21 seconds later while on the man advantage when Erat deflected a shot past Osgood to make it 2-1.
Nashville made it 3-1 at the 9:45 mark of the middle frame after Kariya capped a two-on-one rush with a one-timer from the left circle that beat Osgood stick side. Legwand converted an easy tap-in with less than four minutes left in the second stanza for a 4-1 lead.
The Predators continued to pour it on 1:40 into the third period when Kariya capped another two-on-one rush with a one-timer from the left circle that beat Osgood stick side for a 5-1 lead. Mike Sillinger scored an unassisted tally less than two minutes later to push the Predators' lead to 6-1.
Samuelsson helped Detroit stop the bleeding after he scored a power-play goal with just over five minutes left in regulation to make it 6-2 before Williams' power-play tally with 2:10 left capped the scoring for Detroit.
The Red Wings split the season series with Nashville... Detroit had taken four straight in the Music City prior to losing on Tuesday...Both Detroit and Nashville finished 2-for-7 on the power play.
