NHL Game Summary - Nashville at Colorado

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - David Aebischer made 32 saves to notch his second shutout of the season as the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Nashville Predators, 3-0, at the Pepsi Center.

"I am happy," Aebischer said. "Now I have to get consistent. We played really well tonight, the whole team."

Alex Tanguay tallied a goal and an assist and Bob Boughner notched his first goal of the season for the Avalanche, who have won two straight after a two- game skid. Brett Clark also scored for Colorado.

Tomas Vokoun stopped 22 of the 24 shots he faced for Nashville, which has lost four straight contests. The Predators were a dismal 0-for-10 on the power play.

Colorado drew first blood with 4:37 left in the first period after Boughner unleashed a wrister from the slot that beat Vokoun for a 1-0 lead. Vokoun poke-checked the puck right to Boughner in the slot.

"We know our job," Boughner said. "We are grinders and we are physical and we need to make their (defense) look back over their shoulders."

The Avalanche extended their lead to 2-0 with 4:27 left in the second stanza while on the power play after Clark one-timed a cross-ice pass from Joe Sakic past Vokoun. Sakic held the puck along the right half-wall until Clark came open on a backdoor play.

Tanguay netted an empty-net goal with 19.6 seconds remaining for the final margin.

Game Notes

Nashville had a five-game winning streak against Colorado snapped...Boughner scored his first goal in 99 games. The last time he scored was January 28, 2003 at Phoenix...It was Clark's first goal in 24 games...It was the first time Nashville was shut out this season...It was Aebischer's 12th shutout of his career...Nashville outshot Colorado 14-1 in the third period and 32-25 for the game.
