Final Score: Dallas 2, Nashville 1
Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Brenden Morrow scored a goal and added an assist as the Dallas Stars held off the Nashville Predators, 2-1, at American Airlines Center.
Philippe Boucher posted a goal while Marty Turco was solid in net with 23 saves for the Stars, who have won six in a row, matching a season-high winning streak.
Martin Erat tallied the lone goal for Nashville, which dropped its third consecutive game.
Tomas Vokoun allowed two goals on 23 shots in defeat.
Newly acquired center Mike Sillinger made his Predators debut, failing to register a point and was a minus-1. Sillinger joined Nashville on Monday from St. Louis in exchange for forward Timofei Shishkanov.
After a scoreless opening period, the Stars took a 1-0 lead just 1:19 into the second stanza. Boucher gathered a rebound in the slot and snapped it past Vokoun low glove side.
Just 5:02 into the second period, Nashville's Scott Nichol and Dallas defenseman Trevor Daley both raced for a loose puck behind the net. Daley nudged Nichol, causing him to lose his balance and crash head first into the boards.
Nichol did not move for several minutes as trainers and doctors placed him on a stretcher to take him off the ice. Daley was assessed a five-minute boarding penalty and a game misconduct.
Morrow gave Dallas a 2-0 lead midway through the second stanza. Bill Guerin set up at the right side of the net and made a nifty backhand pass across to Morrow, who tapped the puck past Vokoun for the two-goal cushion.
Erat made it a one-goal game 7:15 into the final frame with his 13th goal of the season. Yanic Perreault's shot from in tight was kicked out by Turco into the slot where Erat fired it back, beating the netminder high glove side.
With less than a minute left, Dallas defenseman Sergei Zubov was penalized for hooking, giving Nashville a power play late. The Predators were unable to generate any quality scoring chances, though, and could not net the equalizer.
