NHL Game Summary - Columbus at Minnesota

(Saturday, October 29th)

Final Score: Minnesota 3, Columbus 1

St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - Todd White scored two goals and Manny Fernandez made 15 saves on 16 shots faced to lead the Minnesota Wild past the Columbus Blue Jackets, 3-1, at Xcel Energy Center.

Brent Burns also scored for the Wild, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Alexander Daigle picked up his seventh assist of the year in the win, while White now has four goals so far this season.

"I was not happy because they were not working as a team," said Wild head coach Jacques Lemaire, despite his team's win. "And, until I get that, I'm not happy, win or lose."

David Vyborny scored the lone tally for the Blue Jackets, who had their modest two-game winning streak halted. However, Vyborny had to leave the game with a wrist injury.

Martin Prusek suffered his first loss of the season (2-1-0) between the pipes as he made 21-of-24 saves in the defeat.

The two teams split a home-and-home set as the Blue Jackets beat the Wild 2-1 Friday.

"It was definitely a completely different game tonight," said Columbus forward Trevor Letowski. "Last night was a real free flowing, tons of scoring chances, back and forth type game. Tonight was completely different."

Columbus took a 1-0 lead 9:28 into the first period after Nikolai Zherdev flipped the puck towards the net from the bottom of the left circle. The puck then hit off Vyborny and into the net. The goal was reviewed to see if Vyborny kicked the puck into the net, but the power-play score was allowed.

Minnesota would tie it up after White's power play goal at the 10:53 mark of the first period.

The Wild then went up 2-1 3:22 into the second period on Burns' second goal of the season. Randy Robitaille recorded his sixth assist of the year as Burns took the puck in the slot and went forehand to backhand to beat Prusek.

White's second goal of the game came with 30 seconds left in the third, as he stole the puck in the slot before lifting a shot past Prusek to seal the win for the Wild.
