NHL Game Summary - Nashville at San Jose

San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - Christian Ehrhoff scored the game-winning goal with 2:04 left in overtime as the San Jose Sharks defeated the Nashville Predators, 3-2, at HP Pavilion.
Jonathan Cheechoo and Mark Smith scored a goal apiece and Vesa Toskala made 17 saves for San Jose, which has won two straight since losing three in a row. Joe Thornton had two assists for the Sharks.
Paul Kariya scored both Predator goals and Tomas Vokoun stopped 39 shots for Nashville, which had a modest two-game winning streak halted.
"One of our worst games on the trip," Kariya said. "We're a horrible team when killing penalties."
Tied 2-2 in overtime, San Jose scored the game-winner after Ehrhoff blasted a snap shot from the right point that beat Vokoun through the five hole with 2:04 left in the extra stanza for a power-play goal and a 3-2 win.
"It was awesome to get the OT winner and it was a big point for us," Ehrhoff said. "We wanted that point -- we played very good today. We played physical and were finishing hits everywhere. It was just fun to play out there today and everybody was going again for us so that's a big part of a victory and for me to get the overtime goal is very special."
Nashville drew first blood 7:19 into the second period while on the power play after Kariya beat Toskala through the five hole from the slot for a 1-0 lead.
San Jose tied the game with 6:04 left in the middle frame after Cheechoo beat Vokoun with a one-timer from the right circle to make it 1-1.
The Sharks took their first lead of the game with 7:47 left in the third period after Smith beat Vokoun from the right side for his seventh goal of the season and a 2-1 advantage.
The Predators pulled Vokoun with over a minute left in regulation and it paid off with 10.9 seconds left after Kariya backhanded a loose puck at the side of the net over the glove of Toskala to force overtime.
The overtime win was the seventh of the season for the Sharks, tying a franchise record...It was San Jose's fifth win in a row at home...The Preds will host Vancouver on Tuesday to begin a four-game homestand...The Sharks evened the season series at 2-2...Nashville was outshot 42-19 in the game...San Jose finished 2-for-10 with the man advantage, while Nashville was 1-for-4.
