NHL Game Summary - Dallas at Chicago

(Sunday, March 5th)

Final Score: Dallas 7, Chicago 2

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Jason Arnott had two goals as the Dallas Stars skated to a 7-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center.

Jere Lehtinen and Brenden Morrow each had a goal and two assists and Jussi Jokinen had a goal and an assist for the Stars, who have won their last two games after a three-game slide.

Marty Turco stopped 18 shots in the victory for Dallas, which is 11-0-2 (two ties) in its last 13 games against Chicago and has outscored them 21-6 in three games this season. Also, Turco is a career 10-0-1 (one tie) against the Blackhawks.

"The Red Wings have my number," said Turco about his streak against Chicago. "It all evens out. We don't take the Hawks for granted and always try our best. One of these days it will reverse, but until then I will enjoy the ride."

Rene Bourque and Mark Bell tallied goals for the Blackhawks, who have lost two straight and five of their last six games.

Adam Munro started in net for Chicago, but was chased out after allowing three goals on 11 shots. Craig Anderson replaced him and fared no better, allowing four goals on 17 shots.

The Stars drew first blood in the game just 4:44 in. Jokinen brought the puck into the Blackhawks zone along the left boards. He skated into the slot and from the inside of the right circle let loose with a backhander that beat Munro for his 13th goal of the season.

Dallas took a 2-0 lead when Niklas Hagman stuffed in a centering pass from Sergei Zubov just 1:15 after the first goal.

The Stars continued to pour it on in the middle stanza and made it a 3-0 game when Martin Skoula's blast from the high slot went through a screen and into the right corner of the net 4:52 in.

Munro was pulled from net after the goal and replaced by Anderson.

The Blackhawks finally got on the board, but needed a 5-on-3 power play to do it. Trevor Daley and Lehtinen were in the box for Dallas and Bell took advantage when his cannon shot from the top of the left circle went into the left corner of the net to make it a 3-1 game 7:57 into the second period.

However, Dallas regained its three-goal advantage a little over two minutes later. Lehtinen tried to hit a player cruising down low on the left side of the net. But his pass hit the stick of Chicago defenseman Duncan Keith in front of the net and went past Anderson.

"They're solid, healthy, one of the best teams and running on all cylinders," said Bell about the Stars. "They are there every year. We play good against Detroit. I cant say why we don't do well against Dallas."

Morrow notched his 20th goal of the season 6:11 into the third period and Arnott's one-timer with 7:59 remaining in the game made it a 6-1 Stars advantage.

Chicago got a power-play goal by Bourque to make it a 6-2 game with 6:27 remaining in the contest.

But, Dallas got the final goal of the game on Arnott's second goal of the contest on a 5-on-3 power play with 4:39 left in the game.
