NHL Game Summary - Dallas at Phoenix

Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) - Shane Doan had two goals and two assists to lead the Phoenix Coyotes to a 6-2 win over the Dallas Stars at Glendale Arena in the first game back for both teams since the break for the Winter Olympics.
Geoff Sanderson had two goals and Paul Mara added a goal and an assist for the Coyotes, who snapped a four-game losing streak.
Curtis Joseph stopped 17 shots in the win for Phoenix, which stopped a two- game losing streak against Dallas and is 3-4 against them this season.
Jason Arnott and Bill Guerin scored goals for the Stars, who are in the midst of a three-game losing streak. Johan Hedberg stopped 17 of 21 shots before being pulled after the second period. Marty Turco took over netminding duties and stopped eight of 10 shots.
It was a scoreless affair for most of the first period, but the Coyotes scored two late goals to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
On the power play, Dave Scatchard let loose with a shot from the right point that Hedberg made the save on. Jon Klemm tried to push the puck to the right boards, but it went right to the stick of Sanderson, who slammed it in with 1:33 left.
Less than a minute later, Mike Comrie tried to sweep the puck behind Hedberg, but it hit the right post. However, Steven Reinprecht was right there and tapped it in for his 12th goal of the season.
Phoenix opened up a 3-0 lead 5:56 into the second period when Doan came in on a breakaway and flipped the puck over Hedberg, who had skated out to the slot to try and poke the puck away from Doan.
Dallas was able to cut into the lead when Guerin from the right circle one- timed a Mike Modano pass into the left corner of the net with 5:36 left in the second period.
However, the Coyotes took a 4-1 lead into the second intermission when Mara blasted the puck from the top of the right circle into the net 90 seconds after the Guerin goal.
Hedberg did not return to the ice after the second period and Turco took his place in net.
The Stars cut into the lead 4:51 into the final stanza. Antti Miettinen let fly with a wrist shot from the top of the left circle that Joseph made the save on. But, the disc went into the slot where Arnott backhanded it between Joseph's pads to make it a 4-2 game.
However, Phoenix killed off a long Dallas 5-on-3 power play later in the period, during which Mike Ricci blocked consecutive point shots from Modano, and Sanderson wrapped up the win on a one-timer from the slot with 7:27 remaining.
Doan netted the final goal of the game with 2:26 left.
Comrie had three assists in the game...Phoenix wraps up its 10-game homestand against Detroit on Saturday...The Stars return home for a game against Colorado on Saturday...Dallas went scoreless on its seven power plays...The Stars connected three times on 10 man advantages.
