NHL Game Summary - Columbus at Nashville

(Saturday, March 27th)

Final Score: Columbus 3, Nashville 2 (OT)

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Tyler Wright scored 2:03 into overtime to lift Columbus to a 3-2 victory over Nashville at the Gaylord Entertainment Center.

Nikolai Zherdev and Rick Nash scored for the Blue Jackets, who overcame a 2-0 deficit to post their fourth straight victory and snap a seven-game winless streak in Nashville (0-6-1). Marc Denis made 14 of his 35 saves after the second period.

Nash, who leads the NHL in goals, became the first teenager in 16 seasons to score 40.

"We didn't want to give anybody free points," Columbus head coach Gerard Gallant said.

Andreas Johansson finished with a goal and an assist for the Predators, who have just two victories in their last 11 games (2-4-3-2).

Dan Hamhuis also scored and Tomas Vokoun stopped 29 shots for Nashville, which remains in eighth place in the Western Conference standings, one point ahead of St. Louis and one behind Edmonton.

Nash pulled the Blue Jackets within 2-1 with 1:16 left in the second. He took a drop pass from Andrew Cassels and beat Vokoun for his league-leading 40th goal of the season.

Columbus forced a 2-2 tie with 5:55 left in the third period on Zherdev's 12th of the season on the power play. With his team on a 3-on-2 rush, he fired a shot on net from the center point. The puck deflected off a player in the slot and went past Vokoun.

Less than two minutes into overtime, Vokoun stopped a breakaway by Zherdev. But moments later, Wright posted his second consecutive game-winning tally as he took a pass in the slot from Trevor Letowski and slipped it past Vokoun.

"We gave them two goals on turnovers," Predators forward Steve Sullivan said.

After a scoreless first period, Nashville scored twice in the second period to go ahead 2-0.

Hamhuis notched his seventh of the season midway through the second on the power play. He gathered a cross-ice pass just below the left faceoff circle and scored on a wrist shot.

Then Johansson scored his 12th on a wrist shot in the slot off a rebound with 4:09 to play in the period.
