NHL Game Summary - Minnesota at Dallas

(Friday, February 27th)

Final Score: Dallas 3, Minnesota 1

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Stu Barnes and Bill Guerin scored third period goals to give the Dallas Stars a 3-1 victory over Minnesota at American Airlines Center.

Philippe Boucher also scored for the Stars, who have three separate 3-1 victories over Minnesota in three games this season. The teams will meet again on April 2 in Minnesota.

Marty Turco made 18 saves for the win, which extended Dallas' unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1).

The Wild got a goal from Andrew Brunette and 28 saves from Manny Fernandez, but dropped their third straight game. They have just one win in their last 16 games on opposition ice (1-6-8-1).

"They played a very desperate, hard game," Stars head coach Dave Tippett said of the opponent. "But our guys hung in there and found a way to win."

Barnes scored the eventual game-winner shorthanded with 8:37 remaining in the third period. Jon Klemm set him up with a centering pass from the left circle, and Barnes scored the one-timer in stride for his ninth of the season.

Guerin added a clincher less than three minutes later, picking up his own big rebound off a wrister from the right circle. He scored with a tight-angle shot as Fernandez remained sprawled from the first stop.

After a scoreless first period, Minnesota grabbed the early lead with their only goal of the game. Brunette scored on a rebound just 35 seconds into the second period.

But Boucher knotted things up with his sixth at 13:17, beating Fernandez stick-side from the left point.
