Sunrise, FL (Sports Network) - Jeff Hackett made 29 saves and Mike Comrie scored twice, leading the Philadelphia Flyers to a 2-1 victory over Florida at the Office Depot Center.
Simon Gagne and Justin Williams assisted on both goal for the Flyers, who are 2-0-1 in their last three after opening their current eight-game road trip with three straight losses.
Nathan Horton scored the lone Florida goal, as the Panthers had their three- game unbeaten streak snapped (1-0-2). Roberto Luongo made 21 saves.
Comrie scored twice in less than six minutes to give the Flyers a 2-1 lead in the second period. He tied the game at 4:31 with a shot from the slot that beat Luongo beneath a tumbling Williams.
Minutes later, Comrie was part of an odd-man rush with Williams and Gagne. He set up to the left of Luongo, and one-timed a soft pass from Gagne for his third of the season and a 2-1 Flyers lead at 9:42.
Hackett kept the Flyers in front with nine saves during the third period. Philadelphia, which improved to 15-1-2 on the season when leading after two periods, hasn't lost at Florida since January of 2000.
The Flyers outshot Florida 12-8 in the first period, but the Panthers lit the scoreboard first on Horton's goal with 1:49 remaining in the stanza.
Matt Cullen set up the play with a nice individual effort behind the net, beating a pair of Flyer defenders to the puck and sending a pass into the slot for Horton, who beat Hackett stick-side with a wrist shot.
The Panthers are just 1-15-1 this season when trailing after two periods...Comrie has three goals and two assists in four games this season...Flyers captain Keith Primeau left the game with 4:45 remaining in the first period after breaking his right thumb.
