NHL Game Summary - Colorado at Calgary

Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - Peter Worrell and Steve Moore both scored in the first period to lead Colorado to a 2-1 win over Calgary at the Saddledome.

David Aebischer stopped 30 shots for the Avalanche, who earned a victory for the second time in nine games (2-3-4).

Rhett Warrener scored the Flames, who are winless in their last two (0-1-1) and suffered just their third regulation loss in the last 21 games (13-3-3-2). Jamie McLennan made 27 saves in the loss.

The Avalanche built a 2-0 lead in the first period. Worrell tipped in a shot at 8:10 and Moore converted a slap shot with 2:53 remaining.

Warrener's shorthanded goal 2:50 into the second period pulled Calgary within 2-1. He beat Aebischer with a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle.

In the third period, Aebischer stopped 10 shots to preserve Colorado's victory. McLennan, meanwhile, faced only four shots.

Game Notes

The Flames, who lost for the second time in their last 13 at home (8-2-3), ended the month of December at 10-3-2...Colorado improved to 5-1-1 in its last seven against the Flames and are unbeaten in their last seven trips to Calgary (4-0-3).
