NHL Game Summary - Dallas at Tampa Bay

(Saturday, December 20th)

Final Score: Dallas 2, Tampa Bay 1

Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Brenden Morrow delivered a power-play goal late in the second period and Marty Turco turned away 26 shots to lead Dallas to a 2-1 win over Tampa Bay at St. Pete Times Forum.

Mike Modano contributed a goal and an assist for the Stars, who won for the third time in five games overall (3-1-1) and snapped a six-game winless streak on the road (0-5-1).

Philippe Boucher posted two assists in his first game since missing nine games with an eye injury for Dallas, which posted its seventh straight win in Tampa Bay.

Martin St. Louis scored for the Lightning, who lost for the fifth time in six games. Nikolai Khabibulin made 21 saves.

His unassisted, shorthanded goal forged a 1-1 tie for Tampa Bay with 5:49 remaining in the second period. He picked up a loose puck at center ice, skated through the left faceoff circle and beat Turco with a backhand shot.

However, Dallas responded 21 seconds later, on the power play, to go ahead 2-1. Morrow, positioned in the slot, followed a rebound off Boucher's shot from the right point.

Toronto's Vincent Lecavalier had a goal waived off with 1:03 left in the second period for Tampa Bay when Dave Andreychuk was called for interfering with the goaltender.

Turco made eight saves in the third period for the Stars. They also killed off Tampa Bay's two-man power play midway through the period.

Modano's tip-in goal put the Stars ahead 1-0 with 6:07 left in the first period. He redirected a shot by Boucher from the right point.
