San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - Vesa Toskala turned away 15 of 16 shots and Nils Ekman scored on a penalty shot to lead San Jose to a 2-1 win over Dallas at HP Pavilion.
Patrick Marleau also scored for the Sharks, who have won six of their last eight games (6-1-1) and snapped a five-game losing streak in the series.
Pierre Turgeon scored for the Stars, who suffered their second straight loss.
Marleau converted on the power play 6:46 into the first period. He scored on a wrist shot from the left faceoff circle.
Ekman's penalty shot with 7:01 left in the second period put the Sharks ahead 2-0. The winger beat Ron Tugnutt to his stickside. Tugnutt stopped 18 shots.
Turgeon spoiled Toskala's bid for his first shutout of the season, and second of his career, with 4:03 left in the third period. Turgeon scored on a wrister from the left faceoff circle.
Niko Dimitrakos and Vincent Damphousse each registered an assist for San Jose, which is unbeaten in its last six at home (3-0-3)...Dallas fell to 3-9-1 on the road...San Jose is 1-for-1 in penalty shots this season.
