NHL Game Summary - Boston at Atlanta

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Martin Lapointe's goal with 8:40 remaining in the third period snapped a tie and lifted the Boston Bruins past the Atlanta Thrashers, 6-4, at Philips Arena.
Joe Thornton, Travis Green, Michal Grosek, Mike Knuble and Rob Zamuner also scored for the Bruins, who won for the first time in their last five games (1-2-1-1). Andrew Raycroft stopped 26 shots for Boston.
Vyacheslav Kozlov, Jean-Pierre Vigier, Shawn McEachern and Marc Savard tallied goals for Atlanta, which fell to 1-4 in its last five contests. Pasi Nurminen made 35 saves for the Thrashers.
Lapointe gave Boston a 5-4 advantage at 11:20 of the third period when he took a perfect centering pass from Patrice Bergeron and one-timed a shot from the left circle past Nurminen for his sixth tally of the season.
Zamuner then sealed the contest when he scored into an empty net with 1:02 remaining.
Savard had tied the contest at 4-4 for the Thrashers just 56 seconds into the third period. Serge Aubin took a shot and the puck trickled through the legs of Raycroft. Savard then reached behind the goaltender and poked the puck into the net for his ninth of the year.
The teams traded two goals apiece in the first period.
Kozlov opened the scoring just 20 seconds into the contest, as he fired a one- timer from the left circle past Raycroft to the stick side for his ninth goal of the season.
Thornton tied the game at 9:30. He circled from behind the net and into the right circle, before launching a shot past Nurminen for his sixth tally of the year.
Vigier gave Atlanta a 2-1 advantage when he scored on a rebound for his sixth goal of the campaign.
Green again knotted the contest with just 11 seconds left in the frame. Green took a centering pass from Zamuner, cut to the backhand and slid the puck past Nurminen for his third tally of the campaign.
McEachern's short-handed goal 2:34 into the second period put the Thrashers ahead 3-2. McEachern broke in alone on Raycroft and fired a high wrist shot over the goaltender's glove and under the crossbar.
The Bruins answered 4:28 later, as Grosek re-directed Ian Moran's point shot past Nurminen for his third goal of the season.
Knuble put Boston in front 4-3 with 3:27 left in the second period. Glen Murray's shot was stopped by Nurminen, but Knuble was there to stuff home the rebound for his 10th of the campaign.
Boston played a penalty-free game for the first time since March 28, 2001 at Toronto. It was also the first time in Thrashers' history that an opponent did not receive a penalty...Lapointe was playing in his 700th career NHL game...The Bruins were 0-for-3 on the power play...Boston halted a two-game losing streak at Atlanta...The Thrashers reassigned forward Tommi Santala to Chicago of the American Hockey League.
