NHL Game Summary - Washington at Columbus

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Peter Bondra notched his 19th career hat trick, as Washington used a four-goal second period to post a 5-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.
Jaromir Jagr added a goal and two assists as the Capitals snapped a two-game losing skid. Brian Sutherby also scored to help Washington start its five-game road trip on a positive note.
Rick Nash scored twice in the defeat for Columbus, which dropped its second consecutive game.
With the game tied at 2-2, Sutherby put the Capitals ahead for the first time in the contest with his second goal of the year. He attacked the net and took a pinpoint pass from Kip Miller, depositing the puck past Marc Denis at 9:17 of the middle period.
Less than two minutes later, Bondra found the back of the net for the second time in the contest to end Denis' night. His wrist shot from the high slot trickled through the goaltender's legs to make it a two-goal game.
Denis allowed four goal on five shots in the middle period. He denied just 10 of 14 shots before being pulled in favor of Fred Brathwaite.
The two teams traded third period goals, as Nash scored for the Blue Jackets to pull them within one, but Bondra finished off the hat trick when he slammed home a rebound at 4:36 of the third period.
After a scoreless first period, Nash opened the scoring when he put home a rebound of a Trevor Letkowski shot just 58 seconds into the middle period. Only 17 seconds later, Jagr tied the contest with a wrister from the left circle.
Columbus jumped back ahead just over five minutes into the period when Olaf Kolzig stopped Geoff Sanderson's shot from the point, but it ricocheted off Tyler Wright's shoulder and into the net, making it a 2-1 game.
Kolzig made 25 saves in the game.
Slightly over a minute later, Bondra scored his first goal of the contest only seconds after a Capitals power play began. He one-timed a shot from just above the right circle over the glove of Denis to even the score.
Robert Lang recorded an assist for Washington to extend his point-scoring streak to 15 games...Jagr now has a point in his last 11 games...Nash scored Nashville's first goal for the sixth time this season. He now has 15 goals this season...The Blue Jackets fell to 7-4-2 on home ice this season..Columbus defenseman Rostislav Klesla in the first period with a knee injury.
