Sunrise, FL (Sports Network) - Olli Jokinen scored twice for Florida, but New York rallied from a two-goal deficit and the Panthers and Rangers skated to a 3-3 tie at the Office Depot Center.
Valeri Bure also scored for the Panthers and goaltender Roberto Luongo made 37 saves.
Mark Messier, Eric Lindros and Boris Mironov scored for the Rangers, while Mike Dunham stopped 28 shots between the pipes.
Each team improved to 2-0-1 in its last three games.
Florida erased a one-goal deficit with three unanswered scores. Bure beat Dunham with a power-play tally to the short side midway through the opening period to tie the contest.
The Panthers took a 2-1 lead at 13:58 of the first period on a goal by Jokinen. Nathan Horton started the play near the blue line with a flip shot toward the net. The puck deflected to Viktor Kozlov, who fired it across the slot to Jokinen. Jokinen had an open net to fire home his ninth goal of the season.
Jokinen's 10th goal of the season, an unassisted tally, put Florida on top by a 3-1 count 48 seconds into the second period. The speedy Finn intercepted a pass at center ice, skated into the Rangers' zone on the right wing and beat Dunham with high wrister to the glove side.
New York responded less than four minutes later with a power-play goal by Lindros, who redirected Brian Leetch's shot from the point past Luongo to the far corner.
Vladimir Malakhov set up Mironov with a pass across the slot with just 1:36 left in the middle stanza. Mironov's one-timer from the right circle beat Luongo to tie the game at 3-3.
Messier took a return pass from Matthew Barnaby and beat Luongo with a backhander less than five minutes into the contest to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead.
Luongo made 18 saves during a scoreless third period to send the game into overtime, as the Rangers outshot Florida, 18-4, in the stanza. The netminder then made four more saves in overtime for the Panthers, while Dunham made two saves in the extra session.
Jokinen had a breakaway late in overtime, but Dunham forced the shot to go wide.
