Final Score: Philadelphia 1, Pittsburgh 1

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Sebastien Caron and Robert Esche combined for 59 saves, as the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers skated to a 1-1 tie at the Igloo.

After killing off a 5-on-3 midway through the third, the Flyers a a few nice opportunities later in the period, but Caron answered each time. The Penguins, meanwhile, finished the stanza without a single good scoring chance, despite a lengthy power play.

In fact, Esche needed just two saves to escape the third, while Caron faced 14 Philadelphia shots at the other end.

Then, in overtime, the Flyers applied more pressure inside the Pittsburgh zone with rookie blueliner Joni Pitkanen creating opportunities early on. One shot his the post, and Caron fended off the rest.

Philadelphia forward Simon Gagne had the last good scoring chance with a rebound opportunity in front, but he jammed the puck into Caron's pads with 13 seconds remaining and the clock ran down on the tie.
