NHL Game Summary - Los Angeles at Dallas

(Friday, November 21st)

Final Score: Dallas 3, Los Angeles 1

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Brenden Morrow scored a pair of goals and Marty Turco made 25 saves, lifting the Dallas Stars to a 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings at American Airlines Center. Jere Lehtinen also scored for Dallas, which won for the first time in eight games (1-5-2).

Alexander Frolov scored the lone goal for the Kings, who fell to 5-2-1-1 this month. Roman Cechmanek finished with 14 saves in defeat after stopping 30 shots in a 3-0 victory over Nashville on Wednesday.

The Stars ended Cechmanek's shutout streak just 1:09 into the contest, as Lehtinen scored his first goal of the season. Mike Modano had the puck behind the net and sent a pass toward the right circle before absorbing a check. Lehtinen was skating through the circle, took the feed and beat Cechmanek with a quick shot.

Turco was strong in the opening stanza, stopping all seven shots he faced.

Dallas scored again at 3:05 of the second. Morrow raced into the Los Angeles zone and gained control of the puck just below the right circle as he was bumped by Los Angeles' Tim Gleason. Morrow went behind the net and backhanded a shot from along the goal line off Cechmanek and into the cage for his fourth goal.

The Kings finally beat Turco with 2:46 left in the second period on a power play. Ziggy Palffy had the puck below the right circle and tried to feed a pass to the top of the crease for Luc Robitaille. The puck deflected to a wide open Frolov at the left side of the traffic in front and he flipped a shot into the cage for his seventh goal.

Turco turned aside all 12 shots he faced in the third period and got some help, as the Kings hit a pair of posts during the stanza.

Morrow then sealed it with 11 seconds to play by scoring into the empty net.
