Bure forged a 2-2 tie for the Panthers at 8:25 of the second period. Weiss and Mike Van Ryn set up the score.

Vigier's shorthanded goal with 4:48 left in the period staked Atlanta to a 3-2 lead. He converted on a breakaway after Bure broke his stick on an attempted shot from the point at the other end.
