Final Score: Boston 3, Washington 2

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Andrew Raycroft made 20 saves and three different Bruins scored goals, as Boston skated to a 3-2 victory over the Washington Capitals at the FleetCenter.

Mike Knuble, Glen Murray and Martin Lapointe each scored for the Bruins, who have now earned at least one point in their last 11 contests (7-0-1-3). Boston, coming off a 5-4 overtime loss in Atlanta on Wednesday, has won four straight home games and is 4-0-1 in its last five at the FleetCenter.

Knuble scored the game's first goal at 5:17 of the opening stanza. Defenseman Hal Gill's 13-foot slap shot rebounded off Kolzig, and Knuble was left alone in the crease to put back his ninth goal of the season.

Moments later, Joe Thornton hit a streaking Murray down the right side of the circle, and Murray blasted a 27-foot low slap shot that trickled under the left shoulder pad of Kolzig to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead with just under seven minutes to play in the first period. The assist on the goal was Thornton's 18th of the season.

With just under two minutes left in the second period, Jagr's wrister pulled the Capitals to within one goal. Jagr lined his shot low, and it deflected off Bruins defenseman Nick Boynton and went through Raycroft's legs.

Lapointe's power-play goal with exactly one second left on a man advantage in the third period gave the Bruins a two-goal lead. Lapointe followed up his own wrist shot and put the rebound between the pipes for his fourth goal of the season.

The Capitals responded as Sergei Gonchar's power-play goal cut the Boston lead to 3-2 with just six minutes to play in the game. The power play was set up Ian Moran's holding penalty.

Jagr had a chance to tie the game with under 10 seconds remaining, but his shot just went wide of the net.

Washington is 1-10-1 when its opponent scores first.
