Final Score: Edmonton 5, Chicago 2

Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - Radek Dvorak scored twice to lead the Edmonton Oilers to a 5-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks at Skyreach Center.

Jarret Stoll, Ethan Moreau and Raffi Torres also tallied for the Oilers, who won their third straight, and for the fourth time in five games. Ty Conklin stopped 33-of-35 shots for Edmonton in the win.

Mark Bell and Scott Nichol lit the lamp for Chicago, which pushed its winless streak to six games (0-5-1). Michael Leighton allowed four goals on 29 Oilers shots.

Edmonton tallied three times in the opening stanza to jump out to a big early lead. Dvorak scored at the 10:35 mark on the two-man advantage. Off a faceoff, the puck came out to Mike York at the point, who passed it to Ales Hemsky at the right of Leighton. He put a quick pass across the crease onto the tape of Dvorak, who shot low into the open net.

The next score came when Chicago couldn't get the puck out of the zone. Jason Chimera picked up the puck and got it to Jason Smith at right of the net, who found a wide open Stoll in front of Leighton. Stoll fired the puck on net, got his own rebound and stuffed it through the five-hole.

Edmonton got its three-goal lead when two Blackhawk players got tangled up coming out of the defensive zone, and the loose puck rolled toward Moreau. From between the hashmarks, Moreau spun and beat Leighton high to the glove side.

But Chicago came back to make a game of it, scoring twice in the second stanza. Scott Ferguson was to the left of Conklin and lost the puck trying to clear it along the board, and fell down. Bell swooped in, collected the puck, went in alone on Conklin and beat him high glove side.

On the second Chicago goal, at the 13:23 mark of the second, the Blackhawks were laying out some big hits behind the net. The puck popped out to Nichol in front of the net, and Nichol beat Conklin high to the stick side over the netminder's shoulder.

At the 9:53 mark of the third, Dvorak rifled a shot hard off the back boards, and the puck ricocheted out toward Torres, who was charging in down the left side. Torres one-timed the puck past Leighton for a valuable insurance goal.

Dvorak added an empty-net goal off an assist from York for the final tally.

Game Notes

Linesman Randy Mitton left the game in obvious pain with a right leg injury in the third period, and the game was played the rest of the way with three officials...Dvorak has a three-game point streak (two goals, three assists) and York has a five-game point streak (two goals, five assists).
