NHL Game Summary - Florida at Atlanta

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Shawn McEachern posted his second three-point game of the season with a goal and two assists to lead Atlanta over Florida, 5-2, at Philips Arena.

Francis Lessard, Vyacheslav Kozlov, Tommi Santala and Daniel Tjarnqvist also all lit the lamp for the Thrashers, who got back above .500 (8-7-3-1) and snapped a season-worst three-game losing streak.

Niklas Hagman and Vaclav Nedorost each found the back of the net for the Panthers, who fell to 2-2 under GM/interim head coach Rick Dudley.

The game was knotted at 2-2, but the Thrashers ended the game with three unanswered goals in the third periods for the victory. At 6:15, Santala tallied his first NHL goal with a wrister to give Atlanta a 3-2 lead.

Then at 15:40, McEachern's wrist shot from the slot increased the Atlanta margin to 4-2.

Tjarnqvist sealed the win for the Thrashers with his first goal of the season at 16:19 on a hard low wrister.

Steve Shields made 25 saves for Florida, while Atlanta's Pasi Nurminen posted 26 saves.

Lessard gave the Thrashers an early lead with his first NHL goal for the sole tally of the opening period.

Kozlov posted the only goal of the second midway through to extend the Thrashers' edge to 2-0 heading into the final 20 minutes.

But the Panthers tied the game at 2-2 with a goal each from Hagman and Nedorost within the first two minutes of the third stanza.

Shields fell to 5-1 in his career against the Thrashers...Coming in, eight of the last ten games in this series had been decided by one goal or less...The Panthers are 4-6-1 away from home this season.
