NHL Game Summary - Florida at Pittsburgh

(Saturday, November 15th)

Final Score: Florida 3, Pittsburgh 2

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Valeri Bure and Kristian Huselius each posted a goal and an assist to lead Florida over Pittsburgh, 3-2, at Melon Arena.

Olli Jokinen also found the back of the net for the Panthers, who improved to 2-1 under GM/interim head coach Rick Dudley. Dudley is filling in for fired head coach Mike Keenan.

Milan Kraft tallied a goal and an assist for the Penguins, who have dropped five of their last six games. Pittsburgh continues to play without star Mario Lemieux, who missed his fifth straight game because of a strained muscle in his left hip. He is not expected to skate until Monday at the earliest.

The Panthers scored the sole goal of the first period and they led the rest of the way. With just 44 seconds left in the frame, Jokinen recorded his seventh of the season on a backhander from close range.

Then just 1:24 into the second, Huselius gave the Panthers a 2-0 edge by skating through the slot for his third of the season.

Bure's fourth of the year also came from the slot and at 14:39 of the second, he put his team ahead, 3-0.

Pittsburgh finally reached the scoreboard 6:16 into the third stanza when Kraft tallied his third of the campaign off of a pass from Josef Melichar.

Not even two minutes later, Drake Berehowsky trimmed the Pittsburgh deficit to 3-2 on a two-man advantage.

Roberto Luongo stopped 33 shots for Florida, while Sebastien Caron made just 17 saves for Pittsburgh.
