The Red Wings were on the power play in overtime after Brett McLean took a critical tripping penalty with just 10 seconds left in regulation. The penalty carried into overtime and Detroit's lethal power-play made them pay.
Shanahan was able to fire a one-timer from the high slot into the upper right- hand corner of the net just 1:08 into the extra session for the game winner.
Chicago scored twice in a 1:07 span to erase a two-goal third-period deficit. Travis Moen made it a 3-2 game when he slammed a rebound into a vacant Detroit net with 8:01 left to play.
Radulov then scored his second of the contest after Chicago continued to pepper Hasek with shots. He walked in from behind the net and beat the goaltender shortside to even the score.
The Blackhawks were able to get on the scoreboard first, taking advantage of an early power play. Bryan Berard and Kyle Calder assisted on the power-play tally to give Chicago a 1-0 lead just 3:34 into the contest.
Detroit eventually tied the game later in the first period. Datsyuk set up Hull with a beautiful pass from the corner. He sent the puck towards the slot, and allowed the future Hall of Famer to one-time a shot between the pads of Anderson at 8:11 of the first stanza.
Malty scored his first goal of the contest shorthanded late in the second period. Draper created some space with a nice move in the corner and sent a pass across the crease to Maltby, who re-directed the puck over Anderson's glove for a 2-1 Detroit lead.
Draper and Maltby hooked up again in the final period to make it a two-goal game with 15:20 to play. Draper started the rush up ice when he found Jason Woolley before he gave the puck to Maltby. The left winger rushed up the ice and fired a wrister from the right circle into the upper portion of the net for a 3-1 Red Wing lead.
