NHL Game Summary - Phoenix at Los Angeles

(Saturday, November 1st)

Final Score: Los Angeles 7, Phoenix 3

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Ziggy Palffy scored a goal and assisted on three others, leading the Los Angeles Kings to a 7-3 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes at Staples Center. Luc Robitaille added a goal and two assists for the Kings, who snapped a three-game losing streak and wrapped up a six-game homestand at 2-4.

Alexander Frolov scored twice for the Kings, who had notched only four goals during their three-game skid. Derek Armstrong and Lubomir Visnovsky each posted a goal and an assist in the victory, while Jon Sim also found the back of the net.

Roman Cechmanek, who was pulled in his last outing, made 22 saves for Los Angeles.

Daymond Langkow, Krystofer Kolanos and Radislav Suchy scored for Phoenix, which has lost two straight and is winless in its last eight (0-5-3). Zac Bierk got the start in net for the Coyotes, but was lifted after allowing five goals on just 18 shots. Sean Burke finished up in the third.

The Kings took a 1-0 lead just 1:50 into the contest on Palffy's third goal of the season. He fired a shot from the right circle that Bierk gloved, but a video review determined the puck had crossed the goal line when Bierk made the save.

Robitaille made it 2-0 with his fourth of the season, cashing in a power play with a deflection of a Visnovsky shot at the 9:19 mark.

Phoenix got on the board just 3:19 later when Langkow redirected home a Mike Johnson pass for his fourth goal, but Visnovsky scored on another power play for the Kings with just 3:09 left in the opening period, ripping a one-timer from the top of the slot pat Bierk for his fourth goal.

The Kings built a 6-1 lead midway through the second period. Armstrong converted a give-and-go with Palffy at the 4:45 mark for his fourth goal and Sim scored at 9:22 when his shot from the left circle was stopped by Bierk, but the rebound caromed in off the skate of Phoenix's Paul Mara.

Kolanos scored for the Coyotes just 17 seconds into the third and Suchy made it a 6-3 game during a five-minute power play at the 7:54 mark, scoring his third on a shot from the center point.

However, the Kings scored shorthanded just under two minutes later to stem the Phoenix momentum. Palffy drew a pair of defenders toward him and fired a shot that Burke stopped. Frolov was left all alone in front and stuffed the rebound home for his third goal.

Frolov also scored again in the final minute.
