Sunrise, FL (Sports Network) - Alyn McCauley posted his first career hat trick to lead San Jose to a 6-2 win over Florida at the Office Depot Center.

Jonathan Cheechoo delivered two goals for the Sharks, who won for the first time in eight games (1-3-4). Patrick Marleau also scored, while Marco Sturm and Scott Thornton both posted two assists.

Jay Bouwmeester and Nathan Horton both scored for the Panthers, who have lost two of their last three. Ivan Novoseltsev finished with two assists.

Evgeni Nabokov turned away 27 of 29 shots to snap a personal 15-game winless streak (0-8-6-1) for San Jose, which built a 3-0 edge in the first period.

McCauley opened the scoring 2:07 into the first period. He beat Florida goaltender Steve Shields with a one-timer from the left circle.

Marleau delivered a power-play goal on a slap shot 8:33 later. Vincent Damphousse won a faceoff and got the puck to Brad Stuart, who fed Marleau 10 feet inside the blue line. The Sharks had a two-man advantage.

McCauley then beat Shields 5:10 later to cap the flurry. He deflected a shot by Kyle McLaren.

Shields finished with 14 saves.

Bouwmeester pulled the Panthers within 3-1 on his second goal of the season 21 seconds into the second period. Novoseltsev and Lyle Odelein both registered assists.

McCauley completed his hat trick 4:39 later for San Jose off assists from Sturm and Hannan to make it 4-1.

Horton posted a power-play goal for the Panthers with 9:37 left in the period.

Cheechoo delivered the game's final two goals. He scored with 1:58 left in the second and with 8:01 remaining in the third.

Game Notes

Nabokov's last victory came February 27, 2003 against Vancouver...Damphousse moved into a tie with Bobby Hull for 39th on all-time points list (1,170)...Florida center Byron Ritchie left with a knee injury early in the second period...The Sharks are unbeaten in their last five against Florida (4-0-1).
