NHL Game Summary - Colorado at Nashville

Final Score: Colorado 5, Nashville 3

Nashville. TN (Sports Network) - Milan Hejduk finished with two goals and an assist to lead Colorado to a 5-3 win over Nashville at Gaylord Entertainment Center.

Peter Forsberg contributed a goal and two assists for the Avalanche, who have won two straight. Teemu Selanne and Steve Konowalchuk also scored.

Scott Hartnell, Adam Hall and Scott Walker scored for the Predators, who suffered their third straight defeat. Tomas Vokoun stopped 27-of-31 shots, and Mark Eaton assisted on all three goals. Hartnell delivered an assist.

David Aebischer stopped 16 shots for Colorado, which built a 3-0 lead and hung on to remain unbeaten in its last six trips to Nashville (5-0-1). Alex Tanguay chipped in with two assists

Selanne's second goal of the season, with 3:13 left in the first period, opened the scoring for the Avalanche.

Consecutive tallies by Hejduk in the second period put them ahead 3-0. He delivered his fifth of the season at 6:15, then added one on the power play from Forsberg and Derek Morris 1:48 later.

Hartnell pulled the Predators within 3-1 on his first goal of the season at 8:51. He beat Aebischer from the left faceoff circle.

Forsberg's fifth of the season opened a 4-1 advantage for Colorado with 7:47 left in the second. His backhand shot from the left circle beat Vokoun to his glove side.

But consecutive goals by Hall and Walker in the third got Nashville within 4-3.. Hall scored from between the circles at 7:29, before Walker converted from the right circle with 2:39 remaining.

However, Konowalchuk's empty-net goal with four seconds to go secured the win for the Avalanche.

Game Notes

Predators forward Andreas Johansson left midway through the first period after getting hit in the face...Alex Tanguay posted two assists for Colorado, which improved to 7-1-2 in their last 10 meetings in the series...Nashville held a 13-4 shot advantage in the third period...Since Konowalchuk joined the Avalanche in a trade with Washington, they have outscored their opponents 11-4 in two games.
