NHL Game Summary - Columbus at Detroit

Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Pavel Datsyuk and Brett Hull each posted a goal and an assist to lead Detroit to a 4-1 win over Columbus at Joe Louis Arena.
Tomas Holmstrom and Ray Whitney each added a goal for the Red Wings, who snapped a two-game losing streak. Brendan Shanahan contributed three assists.
Hull moved into a tie with Phil Esposito for fourth place on the NHL's all- time goal list for Detroit, which tied a franchise record -- originally set in 1964-65 -- with 14 straight home victories.
Rick Nash scored for the Blue Jackets, who suffered their second straight loss.
Manny Legace recorded 18 saves to win his first start of season for Detroit, which extended its unbeaten streak in the series to seven games (6-0-1). The goaltender stopped a breakaway by Nash 90 seconds into the second period.
The Red Wings, who held a 10-5 shot advantage in the first period, posted goals 23 seconds apart to go ahead 2-0 early in the second. Hull converted his 717th career tally 5:32 into the period. Datsyuk fed the puck towards the left slot to Hull, who shot into an open net.
Datsyuk then beat Columbus goaltender Marc Denis with a forehand shot. Shanahan fed a pass to Datsyuk, who faked a backhand and moved to the forehand for his second goal of the season. Denis finished with 24 saves.
Detroit also killed off a two-man disadvantage in the period.
Columbus converted a 2-on-1 with 3:53 left in the second to get within 2-1. Todd Marchant carried the puck through the right circle and slid a pass past the left goal post, where Nash redirected it past Legace.
A power play goal by Holmstrom 6:53 into the third period pushed the Red Wings' lead to 3-1. Shanahan fired a shot from the left faceoff circle. Holmstrom, who was in front of the crease, tipped the shot into the net.
Whitney added a shorthanded tally for Detroit 4:19 later.
Jaroslav Spacek added an assist for Columbus...Henrik Zetterberg and Steve Yzerman both registered an assist for the Red Wings, who improved to 13-2-1 in the all-time series...Detroit, which has won seven of the eight games at home over the Blue Jackets, scored its fourth and fifth even-strength goals of the season...Shanahan has 8 goals and 11 assists in 16 career games against Columbus.
