Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Greg Johnson tallied a goal and an assist while Tomas Vokoun made 26 saves, as the Nashville Predators edged the Columbus Blue Jackets, 3-2, at Gaylord Entertainment Center. Johnson wound up scoring the deciding goal for the Predators, whose 3-1 record ties their best- ever start.
Fred Brathwaite stopped 30-of-33 shots in a losing effort for the Blue Jackets, who had a three-game win streak halted.
After a scoreless first period, Nashville's Denis Arkhipov scored his first goal of the season at 2:27 of the second to make it a 1-0 game.
Two minutes later, Rem Murray scored on a backhander -- off a perfect feed from Johnson -- to give the Predators a 2-0 lead.
Johnson then tallied his first goal of the season to put Nashville up 3-0 at 7:31 of the middle frame. From the left circle, Johnson kicked the puck from his skate to his stick and ripped a shot past Brathwaite for the score.
Columbus rallied late, but fell short. Kent McDonell's wrister from the slot made it 3-1 with 7:27 left in the second period.
David Vyborny scored on a two-man advantage at 14:20 of the third period to pull the Blue Jackets to within a goal. Vyborny tallied his third goal of the season by redirecting Jaroslav Spacek's pass from the right circle into the net.
Columbus had outscored its opponents 10-3 during its three-game win streak...Nashville went 0-for-4 on the power play...The Blue Jackets were 1- for-5 with the man-advantage.
