NHL Game Summary - Dallas at Buffalo

Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Miroslav Satan tallied a goal and an assist to lead Buffalo to a 4-3 win over Dallas in an afternoon game at HSBC Arena.
Ales Kotalik, Taylor Pyatt and Daniel Briere also scored for the Sabres, who captured their first game of the season after being outscored 8-0 in the first two contests of the year.
Buffalo, which was held scoreless in each of its first two games for the first time in franchise history, finally got its initial goal of the year after a scoreless streak of 124:36.
Martin Biron made 18 saves in the win.
Stu Barnes, Stephane Robidas and Philippe Boucher notched goals for the Stars, who suffered their first defeat of the 2003 campaign after the club had won its first two games by a combined score of 7-2.
Marty Turco stopped 17 shots in the losing effort.
The Sabres jumped out to a quick 2-0 in the first 5:05 of the game.
On the first tally, Chris Drury sent a pass from the red line to a streaking Kotalik, who wristed a shot from the left circle that beat Turco through the five hole with 15:24 left in the first.
Buffalo struck again just 29 seconds later. Dallas gave the puck away behind its own goal and Curtis Brown picked up the loose puck for the Sabres. Brown then backhanded a pass in front of the goal to Turco's right and Pyatt beat the goaltender with a low wrist shot on the stick side.
Dallas got on the board moments later to climb within 2-1. Jason Arnott tried a wrap-around, but Biron made a pad save. However, the netminder left a rebound out in front and Barnes tapped in the puck with 13:05 left in the opening stanza for his third tally of the season.
Buffalo widened its lead to 3-1 on Briere's breakaway goal with 9:21 left in the second period. Satan fed a pass to Briere, who came straight out of the penalty box and straddled the red line before Satan put the puck on his stick. Briere skated in all alone where he put a deke move on Turco before lifting the puck into the empty net.
The Sabres stretched the gap to 4-1 on Satan's power-play goal. Jean-Pierre Dumont fired a slap shot from the top of the slot that Turco kicked away to his left. Satan pounced on the loose puck and put the rebound home for the score, his first of the season, with 3:30 left in the middle stanza.
Dallas closed within 4-2 on Robidas' power-play score with 14:06 left in the third period. Robidas fired a laser from the high slot that beat Biron through the legs.
The Stars scored on the power play again with 9:22 left in the game to make it a 4-3 contest. Bill Guerin fed a pass to Boucher, who one-timed a shot from the high slot that found its way into the net through heavy traffic.
Dallas had a chance for the equalizer late in the game as it was awarded a power play and then pulled Turco for a 6-on-4 advantage. However, Biron kept Buffalo ahead as he sprawled out and made a spectacular glove save on Guerin from the doorstep.
Barnes, who played with the Sabres for parts of five seasons before being sent to Dallas prior to last March's trade deadline, played his first game against his former team...Dallas is 3-2-1 in the last six meetings, but fell to 0-3-1 in its last four trips to Buffalo...The Sabres were 1-for-4 on the power play, while Dallas was 2-for-9 with the extra skater.
