NHL Game Summary - Vancouver at Minnesota

(Monday, March 19th)

Final Score: Minnesota 2, Vancouver 0

St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - Josh Harding made 33 saves for his second shutout of the season as the Minnesota Wild surprised the Vancouver Canucks, 2-0, at Xcel Energy Center.

Erik Christensen and Kyle Brodziak scored for the Wild, who had lost three straight and eight of nine coming in.

"Everyone was putting their body on the line for me tonight," said Harding. "We just want to come out here every game and put our best foot forward the rest of the way."

Cory Schneider gave up one goal on 33 shots in the loss for the Canucks, who have dropped five of their last seven.

"It was one of those games where Harding played well and made some big saves at the right time," said Schneider. "He was able to control the rebounds and not give the guys any second looks."

With 94 points, Vancouver sits comfortably in the second spot in the Western Conference. The team has an 11-point lead over Colorado for the top spot in the Northwest Division.

The Wild got the only goal they needed with 23.6 seconds left in the first on the power play.

The team did an excellent job of working the puck around the perimeter. They finished the play when Cal Clutterbuck held the puck at the left side and passed it to Brodziak, who sent a no-look pass to the right where Christensen snapped it in.

Schneider stopped 17 shots in the middle period while Harding turned aside 12.

Vancouver was unable to net the tying goal in the third, and Brodziak scored with the net empty from his own zone with just seconds showing on the clock.
