NHL Game Summary - NY Rangers at St. Louis

(Thursday, December 15th)

Final Score: St. Louis 4, NY Rangers 1

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Alexander Steen had a goal and an assist, helping the St. Louis Blues beat the New York Rangers, 4-1.

David Perron, Jason Arnott and Patrik Berglund also lit the lamp for the Blues, who won the final four games of a five-game homestand.

Brian Elliott made 25 saves for St. Louis, which improved to 12-2-3 under Ken Hitchcock.

"We've found a rhythm," Steen said. "Everybody's supporting each other and pulling on the rope."

Michael Del Zotto scored the lone goal for the Rangers, who have lost two straight. Henrik Lundqvist made 32 saves.

Berglund beat Lundqvist with a wrister from the right circle at the 7:06 mark of the first period.

Perron gave the Blues a 2-0 lead at the 11:03 mark. Carlo Colaiacovo's slapper from the left point was deflected in by Perron.

New York scored the lone goal of the middle stanza with 3:42 left. Ryan Callahan led a 3-on-2 rush into the St. Louis zone. He passed to his right for Brandon Dubinsky, who dumped the puck back into the middle for a trailing Del Zotto. The defenseman made a nice move before putting the puck past Elliott.

Steen scored 1:01 into the third period to make it a two-goal game again.

Arnott added an empty-net goal with 2:17 remaining to make it 4-1.

"We simply didn't win enough battles," New York head coach John Tortorella said. "It was a game that was going to be played on the walls, and they beat us at that game."

Game Notes

New York, which opened a three-game road trip on Thursday, snapped a four-game slide to the Blues with a 2-1 victory in St. Louis on January 8 of last season.
