NHL Game Summary - Washington at Nashville
(Tuesday, November 15th)
Final Score: Nashville 3, Washington 1
Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Colin Wilson scored the game-winner with 24.3 seconds to play in regulation as the Nashville Predators took a 3-1 win over the Washington Capitals.
Shea Weber and Martin Erat each had a goal and an assist while Pekka Rinne made 39 saves for the Predators, who have won four of their last six.
"There's a lot of energy on this club and we create our chances," said Wilson. "We forecheck real good and cause turnovers and that will help you win all the time."
Troy Brouwer had the lone goal for the Capitals, who have lost four of five. Tomas Vokoun made 28 stops in the setback.
"That was a tough one to take cause we played as good as we can play," said Washington head coach Bruce Boudreau. "We score the goal to take the lead and then we stopped playing."
The game had passed scoreless through the first 55 minutes, but each side scored a goal separated by just 28 seconds.
The first came from Washington as Marcus Johansson skated in from the left point and fed a pass over to Brouwer, who held the puck for a moment before flinging a wrister on net that nicked off a defender and went into the left corner at the 15:14 mark.
Moments later, Weber skated down to the low right side after receiving a pass from Mike Fisher. From there, Weber fired it over to the left and Erat had the easy redirect.
The game-winning goal came four minutes later. Wilson held the puck after bringing it in the zone down the left side and sent it behind the net for Erat. That prompted Vokoun to get out of position and Erat sent it back out to the slot where Wilson had the easy tap in.
Weber got an empty-netter off the faceoff to seal the win.
