NHL Game Summary - Dallas at Anaheim

(Tuesday, January 10th)

Final Score: Anaheim 5, Dallas 2

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Saku Koivu notched the second hat trick of his career, scoring the game-winner in the third, as the Anaheim Ducks took a 5-2 win over the Dallas Stars.

Matt Beleskey and Luca Sbisa both scored for the Ducks, who have won three straight for the first time since taking four consecutive games early in the season. Jeff Deslauriers gave up two goals on 28 shots in the win.

Steve Ott and Alex Goligoski tallied for the Stars, who had a two-game winning streak stopped. Kari Lehtonen was tagged for four goals on 25 shots in the loss.

With the score tied after Dallas scored twice early in the third, the Ducks took a 3-2 lead on a backhand from Koivu at the 9:32 mark of the third.

"Give Teemu (Selanne) all the credit, he made a drop pass to me and charged the net," said Koivu. "He took out both of their defensemen. All I had to do was shoot the puck."

Beleskey's wrist shot gave the Ducks a 4-2 lead with 5:20 to play.

Koivu finished off the hat trick with the net empty and under a minute to play as Selanne fed him for his ninth goal of the year.

"We got two quick goals to start the third period," said Ott. "Then they took a timeout and took it over from there. We didn't have much after that."

The Ducks made it a 1-0 game just 90 seconds in as Toni Lydman kept a clear at the left point and his shot was tipped in by Koivu.

That was the only goal of the first period and the Ducks made it a 2-0 game at the 9:22 mark of the second as a shot from Sbisa at the left boards fooled Lehtonen.

Dallas made it a one-goal game 1:39 into the third as Ott's heavy blast from the left circle beat Deslauriers.

Just 64 seconds later, Goligoski tied the game as his wrister at the right circle made its way to the net.
