NHL Game Summary - Buffalo at Boston

(Saturday, November 12th)

Final Score: Boston 6, Buffalo 2

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Tyler Seguin had two goals and an assist, as the Boston Bruins stretched their win streak to five games with a 6-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres.

Brad Marchand added a goal and a pair of assists, while Rich Peverley, Nathan Horton and Chris Kelly also scored for the Bruins, whose current win streak was preceded by a 3-7 start to the season.

Tim Thomas stopped 21 shots in the victory.

"Offensively we've been pretty impressive. It's fun to play behind," Thomas said.

Thomas Vanek and Marc-Andre Gragnani both scored four the Sabres, who had their four-game win streak snapped.

Ryan Miller made 19 saves through two periods, before giving way to Jhonas Enroth, who stopped 10-of-13 shots in the third.

Vanek gave the Sabres a 1-0 lead at the 5:38 mark of the first, snapping a shot from the right wing, then gathering his own rebound behind the goal line and banking it off Thomas and into the net.

Miller stopped all 12 of the Bruins' shots in the opening period, but allowed three goals on 10 shots in the second.

Peverley tied the game at the 7:40 mark, carrying the puck into the Sabres' zone with momentum and sliding a shot through Miller's legs.

Boston took control later in the period, as Seguin and Horton scored 16 seconds apart for a 3-1 lead.

Seguin's goal was set up by Marchand, who stole the puck near the blue line and fed Seguin on the 2-on-1 for an easy tally.

Horton's goal also came on a 2-on-1, as he received a pass from Johnny Boychuck and kept the puck himself, lifting a wrister past Miller.

Enroth, who started three of four games during the Sabres' recent win streak, didn't fair much better, allowing successive goals to Kelly, Seguin and Marchand to begin the third.

Gragnani tallied at the 13:20 mark to cap the scoring.

Game Notes

This was the first of six meeting between the teams this season. Last year, the Sabres took four of six from the eventual Stanley Cup champions...Seguin has 11 points in his last six outings.
