St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Jaroslav Halak made 24 saves to record his seventh shutout of the season, as the St. Louis Blues wrapped up their season with a 2-0 victory over the playoff-bound Nashville Predators.
Alexander Steen and T.J. Oshie scored for the Blues (38-33-11), who won three of four to end the year.
"I think I'm gonna look back on the good stuff from this season," said Oshie. "The games we shouldn't have won and ending the season strong for the fans and the teammates."
Pekka Rinne made 23 saves for the Predators (44-27-11), who currently sit in the fifth spot in the Western Conference.
Nashville will finish the season in either the fifth or sixth spot depending on the outcome of Sunday's game between Chicago and Detroit.
"We still don't know who we're gonna get, but right now we're disappointed we couldn't help ourselves get into a better position for the first round," said Rinne.
Following a scoreless first period, Oshie scored the only goal the Blues would need at the 5:20 mark of the second. David Backes gathered the puck at the left circle and slid a pass to the slot. Oshie controlled the puck while on his knees and put a backhander past Rinne.
Halak made five saves in the first and eight in the second.
The only scoring in the third came on Steen's goal with 49 seconds to play.
Halak stopped 11 shots in the third for his 16th career shutout.
Nashville forward Sergei Kostitsyn saw a career-best 11-game point streak come to an end...Each team went 0-for-1 on the power play...The Blues took four of six from the Predators this season.
