NHL Game Summary - Columbus at Phoenix

(Thursday, March 24th)

Final Score: Phoenix 3, Columbus 0

Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) - Ilya Bryzgalov made 28 saves to record his seventh shutout of the season, as the Phoenix Coyotes handled the Columbus Blue Jackets, 3-0, at Jobing.com Arena.

Michal Rozsival, Mikkel Boedker and Derek Morris lit the lamp for the Coyotes, who have won seven of eight and sit two points behind the Sharks in the Pacific Division standings.

"He is a top notch goalie, and we rely on him heavily," Phoenix head coach Dave Tippett said of Bryzgalov.

Mathieu Garon turned aside 20-of-23 shots for the Blue Jackets, who have lost three in a row.

Rozsival's power-play goal at the 3:51 mark of the second period broke a scoreless tie. Vernon Fiddler controlled the puck at the top of the left circle and slid a pass to the slot. Rozsival was there to chip the puck past Garon.

Phoenix made it a 2-0 game with 1:16 remaining in the middle stanza. A 3-on-1 rush led to a shot on net. Morris was in the right spot to jam home the rebound.

Boedker capped the scoring with 4:59 to play. Bryzgalov made 11 saves in the third to secure the victory.

"He doesn't give up that many rebounds," Blue Jackets defenseman Sami Lepisto said of Bryzgalov. "He's a great goalie."
