NHL Game Summary - Calgary at Columbus

(Saturday, November 28th)

Final Score: Calgary 4, Columbus 3 (SO)

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Jamie Lundmark scored in the fourth round of the shootout as the Calgary Flames rallied for a 4-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.

In the fourth round after Anton Stralman missed on his chance, Lundmark skated in on net and beat Steve Mason with a wrist shot to the right side for the win.

Olli Jokinen had a goal and an assist while Nigel Dawes and Dustin Boyd each had a goal for the Flames, who have won four of their last five. Curtis McElhinney made 29 saves in the win.

"We fought back," said Calgary head coach Brent Sutter. "It was a game where I thought the first 20 or 30 minutes we played a really good road game. We just did the right things and then we got away from our game in the last 10 or 12 minutes of the second period. We started to spend too much time in our own zone and got sloppy. We regrouped in the third."

Rick Nash, Jared Boll and Marc Methot each had a goal for the Blue Jackets, who have dropped a season-high five straight games. Mason made 29 saves in the loss.

"They were much better than we were and much more energized in the first (period)," said Columbus head coach Ken Hitchcock. "We were energized in the second (period) and neither team had much in the third (period). Both teams looked tired in the third. And then we made the two mistakes on the boards (in the third period). It cost us two points, and we only got one."

Trailing by two goals, Calgary made it a one-goal game with 5:47 to play as good work along the back boards resulted in a clean look for Boyd, who flipped a backhand into the net with Mason looking the other way.

Just 1:19 later, Calgary tied the game as David Moss skated behind the net, and from the right side, sent the puck out front where Dawes one-timed it home for his seventh goal of the season.

After a scoreless first period, Calgary got on the board with a power-play marker. Jay Bouwmeester threw a shot on net from the left point that was deflected in front with Jokinen knocking home the rebound at the 5:29 mark.

Columbus, though, scored the next three goals in the frame to surge ahead.

Skating on the man advantage, Nash took a feed on the fly and his wrister from the right circle beat McElhinney high at the 13:20 mark.

Just 63 seconds later, the Jackets took the lead on a sliding wrister from Methot at the left circle for his first goal of the season.

Moments after coming out of the box for a goaltender interference, Boll made it a 3-1 game as he took a pass from Derrick Brassard, and from the right circle, snapped a shot home with 28 ticks left on the second period clock.
