NHL Game Summary - NY Rangers at Florida

(Wednesday, November 25th)

Final Score: NY Rangers 2, Florida 1 (SO)

Sunrise, FL (Sports Network) - P.A. Parenteau netted the lone goal in the shootout, as the New York Rangers clipped the Florida Panthers, 2-1, at BankAtlantic Center.

After Henrik Lundqvist turned away Florida's Steven Reinprecht to open the second round, Parenteau fired a shot that found the right side of the net. New York then prevailed when Lundqvist got the glove on Stephen Weiss' backhand try.

"I just wanted to see what he was going to give me," Parenteau said. "He gave me the blocker side low...I wasn't sure what to do. I just dragged (the puck) to see what was going to get open."

Marian Gaborik notched his league-leading 19th goal of the season -- a power- play marker -- for the Rangers, who have won two games in a row for the first time since recording their seventh straight win on October 17 at Toronto.

Lundqvist finished with 25 saves.

Dominic Moore's long wrister from the high slot drew the Panthers even with 4:53 to play in the third period. Tomas Vokoun made 27 saves for Florida, which has earned at least a point in 11 of its last 13 games (8-2-3).

"I think we did a really good job on the forecheck," Moore said of the goal. "We just sort of got lucky getting the puck through a screen."

The Rangers got on the board when Gaborik stationed himself near the left post and redirected Chris Drury's point shot behind Vokoun with 24.4 seconds remaining in the middle stanza.
