NHL Game Summary - Montreal at Nashville
(Saturday, November 14th)
Final Score: Nashville 2, Montreal 0
Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Pekka Rinne made 20 stops to record his second shutout of the season as Nashville topped Montreal, 2-0, at Sommet Center.
Steve Sullivan registered both goals for the Predators, who have won four of six thanks to a 55-shot effort.
"Right from the puck drop, we were really able to take it to Montreal," Sullivan said. "We're happy with the performance. We look forward to continue that."
Carey Price was bombarded throughout the contest but made 53 stops in defeat for the Canadiens, who have lost three of four.
Sullivan's tally just after the midway point staked the Preds to the lead, but the home team couldn't add to the advantage after Price turned away an incredible 23 shots over the opening 20 minutes.
The Habs continued to be badly outplayed in the second period, outshot by an 18-6 margin, and Price continually provided the last line of defense to keep it a one-goal contest.
Sullivan's power-play score with 7:01 left in regulation gave the home team a two-goal edge and Rinne made sure the lead held up with 10 saves in the third period.
Rinne notched his ninth career shutout...The win was Nashville's first at home against Montreal since a 5-1 decision on March 23, 2002.
