Final Score: Nashville 3, Anaheim 1
Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Jason Arnott scored the game-winner midway through the third period, and Pekka Rinne made 25 saves to help Nashville beat Anaheim, 3-1, at Sommet Center.
Arnott also had two assists, while Shea Weber also scored and had an assist for the Predators, who have won three in a row and snapped a three-game skid against Anaheim. Rinne improved to 16-7-2 on the season.
Mike Brown scored the lone goal for the Ducks, who have lost four of five. Jonas Hiller stopped 33-of-35 shots in the hard-luck defeat.
Anaheim got on the board at the 7:45 mark of the first. Evgeny Artyukhin used some nifty moves to beat several defenders down the left side of the ice before losing control of the puck just before getting to the crease. Brown, though, was right there to poke it into the net while falling down for the early lead.
Hiller stopped 15 shots in the first period to help the lead hold up.
Weber finally scored the equalizer with 4:33 left in the middle frame. He fired a slapshot that was initially saved about 10 seconds before his goal, but the Preds controlled the rebound and maintained possession in the offensive zone. The puck found its way back to Weber at the top of the slot, and the defenseman did not squander his second chance.
Rinne made 10 stops in the second period, and Arnott gave Nashville its first lead with 9:49 remaining in the game on his 12th goal of the year.
David Legwand scored in the last second to account for the final score. Rinne made nine more saves in the third to preserve the win.
The Preds improved to 13-7-1 at home, while Anaheim fell to 5-10-5 on the road...The season series is tied, 1-1...The Ducks played their third consecutive game without forward Ryan Getzlaf (leg).
