NHL Game Summary - Vancouver at Phoenix

(Tuesday, December 29th)

Final Score: Phoenix 3, Vancouver 2 (SO)

Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) - Lauri Korpikoski notched the lone goal in the shootout as Phoenix nipped Vancouver, 3-2.

Korpikoski began the third and final round with a successful wrister, then Jason LaBarbera stopped Mikael Samuelsson's shot with his pads to end the contest.

Ed Jovanovski and Petr Prucha scored in regulation for the Coyotes, who set a franchise record with their 10th consecutive home win. LaBarbera stopped 28 shots for the win.

Samuelsson and Kyle Wellwood tallied for the Canucks, whose three-game win streak came to an end. Roberto Luongo was the hard-luck loser with 23 saves.

Jovanovski's power-play score gave the Coyotes a lead at the exact midway point of regulation.

Samuelsson responded for the Canucks inside a minute later, but Prucha's score just under three minutes left in the second gave Phoenix a one-goal lead once again.

Wellwood's fourth of the year tied the game at 2-2 with 6:12 left in regulation, and the Coyotes held on in the final 51 seconds of regulation and the first 1:09 of overtime while shorthanded.
