NHL Game Summary - Dallas at Anaheim
(Wednesday, October 21st)
Final Score: Dallas 4, Anaheim 2
Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Loui Eriksson registered a goal and an assist to help the Dallas Stars double up the Anaheim Ducks, 4-2, at Honda Center.
Steve Ott sealed the win for Dallas with an empty-net goal and picked up an assist in his first game back after an oblique problem resulted in a stint on injured reserve.
Brenden Morrow and Trevor Daley also scored for the Stars, who have won two of their last three games. James Neal notched a pair of assists, and Marty Turco finished with 24 saves.
"We like the way we've been playing for the most part of the season," said Turco. "After the changes we made, the injuries we've had, we deserve credit for playing the way coach (Marc Crawford) wants us to."
Ryan Getzlaf and Joffrey Lupul lit the lamp for the Ducks, who have dropped three of four. Jonas Hiller stopped 34 of the 37 shots he faced in defeat.
"We didn't start playing until the third period and that is not acceptable in this league," said Getzlaf. "We're not going to accept it as a group. We have to get ready to go ready to go tomorrow and get back on our horse."
Eriksson opened the scoring with 5:59 remaining in the first period, tapping in a rebound of a Neal backhander from the slot.
Morrow, playing in his 600th career game, extended the lead to 2-0 at 4:17 of the middle stanza and Daley converted on the power play, firing a wrister over the glove of Hiller at 8:53.
Getzlaf put Anaheim on the board with 2:08 to play in the second, and Lupul closed the gap to 3-2 at 8:35 of the third.
Ott put the game away in the waning moments of regulation.
Dallas forward Brad Richards missed his second straight game with a groin injury...Stars forward Francis Wathier made his NHL debut...Anaheim forward Saku Koivu skated in his 800th career game...Ducks defenseman James Wisniewski returned to the lineup after a three-game absence with a sprained shoulder.
