NHL Game Summary - NY Rangers at Philadelphia

(Saturday, December 19th)

Final Score: NY Rangers 2, Philadelphia 1

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Henrik Lundqvist was solid with 36 saves and Artem Anisimov's second-period goal wound up as the game-winner in a 2-1 Rangers win against the Flyers.

Chris Drury opened the scoring in the first period and Lundqvist shut the door with 28 saves over the final 40 minutes for New York, which ended a five-game losing streak Thursday by taking the back end of a home-and-home set from the rival Islanders.

"We needed to stay in control, let them shoot from the outside. Right now I'm just so focused in trying to turn this thing around. I feel good. It's all about your mindset. The only thing I think about is the next shot. Don't analyze too much. Try to stay within my game," Lundqvist said.

Chris Pronger's fifth goal on the year was the sole score for Philadelphia, which has lost five of its last six games coming off a home-and-home sweep at the hands of division-rival Pittsburgh.

Brian Boucher turned back 22-of-24 shots in the setback, the Flyers' 10th in 12 games overall.

"It comes down to the same things I've been saying for three years here. It all comes down to preparation. With this team and this lineup, we should be better. We're a desperate hockey team. We've got to find a way to play 60 minutes," said Flyers defenseman Kimo Timonen.

New York gained a 1-0 lead only 5:16 in after the Flyers coughed up the puck in their own zone and Drury wheeled and fired low on the stick side to beat Boucher from between the circles.

Pronger had the equalizer for Philadelphia less than three minutes later on the power play, releasing a wrist shot through traffic from the right point and into the top right corner of the net.

The Rangers went back in front 4:46 into the middle stanza with Anisimov emerging from behind the net to Boucher's right and sending a backhander in front that deflected off a defender and into the net.

Lundqvist withstood a 16-shot attack from the Flyers in the third period and an extra attacker over the final 1:28 with Boucher on the bench.
