NHL Game Summary - Buffalo at Ottawa

(Wednesday, December 16th)

Final Score: Ottawa 2, Buffalo 0

Ottawa, ON (Sports Network) - Brian Elliott posted his second shutout of the season with 22 saves to lead Ottawa past Buffalo, 2-0, at Scotiabank Place.

Alexandre Picard and Mike Fisher tallied for the Senators, who have won three of four.

Ryan Miller stopped 26-of-28 shots in the loss for the Sabres, whose four-game win streak was halted.

After Miller made two spectacular saves in the slot on Fisher and Peter Regin, Fisher stood in the slot and had the puck come back to him for a successful wrister and 2-0 Senators lead with 1:36 to play.

The Sabres went for an extra attacker on the ensuing faceoff, and had a 6-on-4 advantage for the final 1:13 after Sens forward Jarkko Ruutu went to the box for high-sticking, but failed to produce a goal.

Ottawa took a 1-0 lead with 1:37 left in the first period, as Picard's floater from the bottom of the left circle sailed through traffic in front and past Miller.

Elliott and Miller stopped seven shots apiece in a scoreless second period.
