NHL Game Summary - Minnesota at Nashville
(Saturday, December 5th)
Final Score: Minnesota 5, Nashville 3
Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Andrew Brunette had a goal and one assist to lead Minnesota past Nashville, 5-3, at Sommet Center.
Andrew Ebbett, Antti Miettinen, James Sheppard and Eric Belanger all lit the lamp for the Wild, who scored five straight goals to help them win for a fifth straight time.
Josh Harding picked up the win with 26 saves.
"For the most part, we executed and did the things we wanted to do to stymie their power play," said Wild coach Todd Richards.
Martin Erat, Jason Arnott and Marcel Goc scored for the Predators, who couldn't maintain momentum from a road win in Chicago on Friday and have dropped three of four.
Dan Ellis was tagged for four goals on 28 shots through two periods in the loss. Pekka Rinne stopped 10-of-11 shots in the final 20 minutes.
Erat's power-play score gave the Preds a lead just prior to the midway point of the first period, but the Wild closed out the period with two scores -- by Ebbett and Sheppard -- separated by 1:32 to go up 2-1.
Brunette and Miettinen scored in the second period and Minnesota led 4-1 after two.
Belanger's power-play goal made it 5-1 for the Wild at the 3:27 mark of the third, but Nashville picked up late goals from Arnott at 9:05 and Goc with 12 seconds left to make the game close.
"We just didn't play well the first 20 minutes. We just didn't pick it up in the second period. I don't know what happened," said Erat.
Minnesota has won two of three meetings this season...Wild forward Martin Havlat picked up a pair of assists.
